The motors do the heavy lifting, but it's often the accessories that make a gate safe, secure and easy to live with. Here's what's available. Most can be added to an existing gate, as long as the control board supports them.
Safety
- Photocells – extra pairs for wider openings, or for the inside of the gate
- Safety edges – wired or wireless, for closing edges and trapping points
- Warning lights – flash before and while the gate moves
- Guarding and mesh – to cover finger traps on gates and rollers
See photocells, safety edges and sensors explained.
Electric Gate Accessories That Add Safety and Convenience
The right accessories turn a working gate into one that's safer and easier to live with. Safety comes first: photocells, safety edges and warning lights make sure everyone around the gate knows it's moving and that it stops if something is in the way.
Beyond safety, there are accessories that make daily life simpler, from extra remotes and keypads to intercoms that let you see who's at the gate before you open it. Each one is chosen to suit how you use your entrance.
Gate Automation Extras We Fit Around Carlisle
As well as CAME automation, we supply and fit battery backup, timers, loop detectors for exit-free driveways, GSM controllers and video intercoms. Everything is connected to the control board and set up properly, rather than bolted on as an afterthought.
Accessories can be added at installation or later on. If you'd like to upgrade an existing system, we'll check that your control board can support the extras before recommending anything.

Adding accessories to your gate
I'll check that anything you add is compatible with your control board and doesn't affect the gate's safety. After adding or changing safety devices, the gate needs to be re-tested.

Questions people ask me
Can I add battery backup to my existing gate?
Normally, yes, if the control board supports it.
Can I add a keypad myself?
Wireless keypads are sometimes simple to pair, but anything wired into the control board is a job for an engineer.
Will accessories from a different brand work?
Some do, some don't. I'll ensure everything is compatible.
